How platform payments work

How Apple's fiscal calendar works

Apple uses a fiscal year that typically runs for 364 days, divided into four quarters (Q1–Q4). Each quarter consists of one 5-week fiscal month and two 4-week fiscal months. Apple's fiscal year starts in late September — so Q1 FY2026 begins September 28, 2025.

Apple generally pays developers approximately 33 days after the end of each fiscal period. These dates are estimates, since Apple does not publish an official payment schedule. Actual payment dates may vary by 1-2 days.

This means if your app earns revenue during a fiscal period ending January 31, you won't see that money until approximately March 5 — over 33 days later.

How Google Play payments work

Google Play uses standard calendar months for payment cycles. Earnings from each calendar month are paid approximately 30 days after the month ends. Google processes payments around the 15th of each month, but bank transfers can take additional time to arrive.

For example, revenue earned in January 2026 (Jan 1–31) would typically be paid around March 2, 2026 — about 30 days after the month closed.

Why payout timing matters for app developers

A 30–33 day gap between earning revenue and receiving payment creates real business challenges. If you're running UA campaigns, paying contractors, or managing payroll, you need cash now — not in 33 days.

This is especially problematic during growth phases. Positive ROAS on your campaigns means you should be scaling spend — but you can't reinvest money you haven't received yet.

Revenue factoring solves this by advancing up to 85% of your confirmed earnings within 3 days of the fiscal period close — 30+ days before the platform pays you.

Frequently asked questions

What is Apple's fiscal year?

Apple's fiscal year runs for approximately 364 days, divided into four quarters. Each quarter has three fiscal months — one lasting 5 weeks and two lasting 4 weeks. FY2026 runs from September 28, 2025 to September 26, 2026.

When does Apple pay app developers?

Apple pays approximately 33 days after the end of each fiscal period. For example, the fiscal period ending January 31, 2026 has an expected payment date of March 5, 2026. Apple does not publish official payment dates.

When does Google Play pay app developers?

Google Play pays approximately 30 days after the end of each calendar month. Payments are processed around the 15th of each month for the previous month's earnings, with bank transfers taking additional days to arrive.

Are Apple's payment dates consistent?

Apple generally pays 33 days after each fiscal period ends, though there have been occasional exceptions (particularly around the November fiscal month). Payment dates may also shift by 1-2 days due to weekends and holidays.

What is the difference between Apple's fiscal calendar and the standard calendar?

Apple's fiscal year starts in late September (not January) and uses fiscal months of 4-5 weeks (not calendar months). This means fiscal "January" might run from December 28 to January 31 — not January 1 to January 31.

Can I get my app earnings faster than waiting 30-33 days?

Yes. Revenue factoring allows you to access up to 85% of your confirmed platform earnings within 3 days of the fiscal period closing — more than 30 days before the standard payout arrives. The fee is 3% per advance.
